We are very proud to announce the participation of Clearwater Compliance in the PHI Project, an initiative launched by the Internet Security Alliance (ISA) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) that is focused on the financial impact of unauthorized access to protected health information (PHI).

 In fact, Clearwater is one of two Premium Sponsors of this most timely and critically important study, called "the PHI Project".

The aim of the PHI Project is to identify risk levels, standards, guidelines, and best practices that organizations holding PHI can use to help them make investment decisions to protect PHI. The project will also focus on risk of harm assessments needed to comply with data breach notification requirements.  The HIPAA Privacy and Security Final Rules, along with The HITECH Act will serve as important frameworks for this project.

Clearwater Compliance's passion is about helping organizations safeguard the very personal and private healthcare information of millions of fellow Americans.  The PHI Project fits perfectly with Clearwater's mission and passion!

The PHI Project will culminate in the publication of a report presenting consensus-based findings and recommendations based on analysis of the collaborative work of several subcommittees. As one of the PHI Project’s leading sponsors, Clearwater Compliance will work closely with three subcommittees:

  • The project advisory subcommittee, providing overall project oversight;
  • The ecosystem subcommittee, charged with defining points of compromise in the healthcare ecosystem where there are risks of exposure; and,
  • The finale subcommittee, which will facilitate overall integration of the input of all project subcommittees into the final report.

As release of the report nears watch for us to share information about Clearwater’s participation in a publication release event at the National Press Club and a Congressional staff briefing on Capitol Hill.  We are extremely honored to be part of an initiative that is so important to us and to our clients, and we will keep everyone posted throughout the process.
